
County History and Information:
Robertson County was established on April 9, 1796 and took its name from General James Robertson, founder of Nashville, State Senator and the "Father of Middle Tennessee." The original lots of land for Springfield, the county seat, sold for eight dollars a piece. Robertson County was historically a major tobacco producing area. It is also the home of the Legend of the Bell Witch and the Bell Witch Cave. County festivals include the Tennessee-Kentucky Threshing show and the Turning of the Pig.
